The New Mexico Press Association is hosting its annual High School Journalism Workshop in Albuquerque June 10-13, 2018. The deadline to apply is May 25th, 2018.
Hot Springs High School students with an interest in writing, editing, design, digital journalism and photography are encouraged to attend. The workshop is designed for students who are working on school newspapers or yearbooks — or who are interested in a career in journalism.
Journalism and a free press are part of the bedrock of American democracy. The First Amendment permits information, ideas and opinions without interference, constraint or prosecution by the government.
Journalism has long held an important civic role in informing the citizenry and holding government officials accountable.
The New Mexico Press Association exists to improve the quality of member newspapers, encourage high journalistic standards, promote journalism education and will seek to protect the rights of Free Speech for its members as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.
