Workforce Connections Celebrates Move to WNMU Learning Center

On Monday, a host of state and local government staff and local business and civic leaders were on hand to celebrate the move of New Mexico Workforce Solutions move into the Gardner Learning Center at 601 Sunset Street in T or C. The facility will host a number of agencies and institutions, including Western New Mexico University, which will continue to offer adult education classes.

State Representative Rebecca Dow, City Manager Juan Fuentes, County Sheriff Glenn Hamilton, City Commissioner Rolf Hechler, and officials from Help NM and Workforce Solutions attended a ribbon cutting presided over by the local Chamber of Commerce.

Jeffrey Smith of THEMAC Resources group, which intends to re-open a copper mine not far from T or C, said they will use Workforce for a variety of training roles for some of the three hundred employees the mine will eventually employ.

Marianne Blaue of T or C Brewing Co. said, “We first utilized Workforce Solutions programs when we attended their job fair this spring, at which we received numerous resumes from qualified individuals.  We look forward to taking advantage of their training programs next.”
