New Mexico True showcased at South By Southwest

Thousands of people from all over the world now know what it means to be New Mexico True.

Our state’s tourism department put together some videos to be viewed at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Tech companies flock to the annual festival to show off their latest innovations. Tourism department leaders saw it as the perfect opportunity to showcase what makes New Mexico a good place to start and grow a business.

“We have third-party research that shows New Mexico True advertising is already changing the way people think about New Mexico as a place to do business,” said Rebecca Latham, Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Tourism. “So South by Southwest is a really good opportunity to leverage city and state resources for the shared goal.”

The videos feature two businesses that have started and grown their businesses in New Mexico.

“Both Innobright and Taos Mountain Energy Bars have worked with the state of New Mexico and a start-up entrepreneurial ecosystem here in Albuquerque to grow their businesses, and we want to be able to show other entrepreneurs what resources exist in New Mexico that can help them grow as well,” said Latham.

The state also secured 100 percent of the WI-FI at the Austin airport for the entire month of March. That means anyone logging on sees a 30-second New Mexico true ad.
