Beer, marijuana, outer space and more

What industry is most likely to help New Mexico truly recover from the recession(finally)?

There’s no magic bullet for our state’s economy, but there are plenty of exciting possibilities of industries with growth prospects that could help New Mexico grow jobs and wealth.

That’s why we’re shining the spotlight on some of those industries with our Grow New Mexico: Emerging Economy Outlook event April 20. Five presenters will give brief talks on why certain industries could be growth engines for New Mexico —and the challenges those industries face — and will respond to questions from the audience.

Presenters and the industries they’re discussing:

Tammara Anderton, director of business development, Spaceport America – commercial space industry

Mark Lautman, principal, Lautman Economic Architecture – solopreneurs

Nico Ortiz, owner, Turtle Mountain Brewing Co. — breweries

Stuart A. Rose, founder, The Bioscience Center – biotechnology

Rachael Speegle, director of operations, Verdes Foundation – medical marijuana

These industries boast financial heft already and have prospects for more.
