Legal marijuana: Potential ‘bud boom’ for New Mexico?

As New Mexico’s state legislature talks about possibly legalizing recreational marijuana, KOB’s Caleb James looks at what that could do for the state. Will it mean millions of dollars, and no more money troubles?

The scenic drive straight up Highway 285 is no doubt the shortest shot to the Colorado state line – about three hours from the Albuquerque metro area.

More and more New Mexico plates are shooting up the highway and crossing the Colorado state line.. And a lot of New Mexicans with a cannabis craving are stopping off in the tiny town of Antonito, Colorado — population 781 — it is the tiny border town making it big on the “bud boom.”

Some experts say the town’s boom could be the future for some smaller New Mexico towns.
