The sun keeps shining for the solar industry in New Mexico.
According to a report from The Solar Foundation, New Mexico had 2,929 solar jobs in 2016, a 54 percent increase from the year prior, when the state had 1,899 jobs.
The nonprofit The Solar Foundation released its annual National Solar Jobs Census report this week, where New Mexico ranked No. 23 in the country for solar jobs. Per capita, New Mexico was No. 8 for the number of solar jobs.
According to the foundation, one of every 50 new jobs in the country was in the solar industry. Across the country, there are about 260,000 solar jobs. The solar workforce grew by 25 percent over 2015, the largest annual growth percentage since The Solar Foundation’s first National Solar Jobs Census was released in 2010.
