Rio Grande Trail Master Plan Released

In 2015, the state of New Mexico began a planning process for a 500-mile recreational trail for hiking, biking, and horseback riding along the Rio Grande. The process reached a major milestone this week with the release of its Master Plan.

The planned trail tracks the Rio Grande through 86.4 miles of Sierra County, including through Elephant Butte State Park and Caballo Lake State Park, and along the river near T or C.
